Conventional-engined cars are increasingly losing market share in China. Retail sales of gasoline-powered passenger cars were recorded at around 536,000 units, down 40 percent.

Demand in the Chinese car market continues to weaken. The latest data shows that in August, retail sales in the national passenger car market fell 23.6% year on year, with fuel vehicle retail sales falling 40% year on year; from January to August, cumulative retail sales of passenger cars fell 20.8% year on year.
