The Pakistani government has passed a new law banning child marriage, with adults who cohabit with minors now facing up to seven years in prison and a fine of one million rupees. The law has yet to be formally signed by President Asif Ali Zardari, but has already been met with fierce resistance from the influential Council of Islamic Ideology, the Daily Mail reports.
