Pakistan, EU to Deepen Ties
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, JUL 17 – Pakistan and the European Union agreed to enhance cooperation on counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics while reaffirming commitments under the Strategic Engagement Plan and GSP+ trade framework.
- The 10th Pakistan-EU Political Dialogue took place on July 17, 2025, in Brussels, covering bilateral, regional, and international issues.
- The dialogue built on the Strategic Engagement Plan signed in 2019, reaffirming commitment to its implementation and upcoming meetings.
- Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation on security, counter-terrorism, migration, and uphold international law while calling for a ceasefire and peace in Palestine.
- Pakistan’s delegation was headed by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, while the European Union was represented by Deputy Secretary General Olof Skoog, with both sides agreeing to convene the next Political Dialogue in Islamabad in 2026.
- The dialogue emphasized continued close collaboration within the GSP+ framework and planned the next session of the Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Dialogue for sometime in 2025.
