PacificSource: Healthcare insurer to halt all business in Montana at the end of the year
PacificSource said Montana customers will need to choose another insurer as its withdrawal leaves the state marketplace with fewer options.
- On Thursday, PacificSource Health Plans confirmed it will cease all Montana operations and exit the Affordable Care Act Marketplace by Dec. 31, 2026.
- Company spokesperson Amber Conger cited 'headwinds across the healthcare industry' as the reason, noting that rising costs and inconsistent access make the system unsustainable.
- PacificSource currently covers approximately 11,000 individual members and 15,000 small group members while maintaining contracts with more than 90% of Montana providers.
- Consumers are 'forced to shop for new plans,' Spokesperson Ethan Holmes said, directing those concerned to contact the Insurance Consumer Service bureau for assistance.
- Beyond Montana, PacificSource is reducing staff across Washington and Oregon to match restructured business units while offering severance packages to affected employees.
