- Modi launched the nationwide HPV vaccination campaign on Feb 28 to vaccinate 14-year girls, with the single-dose Gardasil-4 vaccine provided free of cost at government health facilities.
- This quadrivalent vaccine provides protection against HPV types 16 and 18, plus types 6 and 11, while vaccinations are administered by medical officers at sites linked to AEFI management centers.
- The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to entertain a PIL challenging the campaign, observing the plea lacked bonafide and noting ordinary compensation rules apply if incorrect vaccination occurs.
- Health authorities in several states, including Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, are coordinating with schools and local bodies to ensure smooth access while Parents are urged to encourage eligible 14-year girls to get vaccinated.
