Over 1.6m refugees return to Afghanistan this year: OCHA

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says 1.668 million Afghan refugees have returned to their country as of July 26.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has warned of a massive return of migrants to Afghanistan and called for immediate funding to address the crisis, saying in a statement on Thursday that Afghanistan is facing one of the largest returns in modern history. More than four million refugees have returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan since September 2023, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
