Outback Steakhouse closes more locations nationwide
Bloomin' Brands, operating over 670 Outback Steakhouse locations, closed multiple underperforming restaurants nationwide as part of its ongoing turnaround plan.
On August 7, Bloomin' Brands confirmed several Outback Steakhouse locations have closed across the United States, including in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, New York, and Wisconsin.
Bloomin' Brands said the shutdowns are part of its ongoing turnaround plan and follow 41 closures in February 2024, weighing sales, traffic, trade areas, and investment potential, spokesperson Elizabeth Daly said.
Local reporting lists closed addresses including 8661 Colesville Road, 3760 South 3rd Street, 4910 U.S. 41 North, 2124 Merrick Mall and 4520 E. Towne Boulevard, with abrupt shutdowns and customers finding a 'Now closed.' notice in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Employees at shuttered locations were offered transfers and a transition bonus, Elizabeth Daly, Bloomin' Brands spokesperson, said, though some staff described the closures as sudden.
Despite closures, Bloomin' Brands operates over 350 restaurants internationally, primarily in Brazil and South Korea, and owns more than 670 Outback Steakhouse locations in the U.S., according to its quarterly report.
