Everett's Stellar Start Sends MSU Past Oklahoma for First WCWS Berth
Oklahoma seeks its 10th straight Women’s College World Series berth, while Mississippi State tries to reach the event for the first time.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs shut out the Oklahoma Sooners 6-0 on Sunday in the deciding game of the Norman Super Regional, clinching the program's first-ever Women's College World Series appearance.
Mississippi State opened the series with an 11-9 comeback victory on Friday, but Oklahoma forced a winner-take-all Game 3 after securing a 7-1 win on Saturday.
Junior pitcher Delainey Everett, making her first start of the year, dominated in the circle, while Kinley Keller led the Bulldogs offensively by going 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
This result marks the first time Oklahoma has missed the Women's College World Series since 2015, while Mississippi State becomes the first team to defeat the Sooners en route to a maiden appearance.
The Bulldogs now advance to the Women's College World Series at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, joining other regional winners competing for the national title.
