- Carla MacLeod, a two-time Olympic gold medallist, has coached the Ottawa Charge since the PWHL's inaugural 2023-24 season after international success led to her hiring.
- MacLeod wrote `Hearing those words was incredibly difficult, but I want everyone to know that I'm going to be OK`, adding her medical team built a confident treatment plan and she intends to stay connected.
- Amid the season, the organisation pledged support as Haley Irwin, assistant coach, will handle coaching duties during MacLeod's absence, Mike Hirshfeld, Ottawa Charge general manager, said.
- MacLeod wrote that she plans to coach the Czech Republic women's hockey team at the Milan Cortina Winter Games, which opens against the United States on Feb. 5, after leading them to consecutive bronze medals.
