Arantza Baigorri, who was mayor of Zaldibar between 2011 and 2018 representing EH Bildu, has been indicted for alleged crimes of prevarication related to urban planning, along with two municipal architects and a secretary.
The general secretary of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, has supported the former mayor of Zaldibar, Arantza Baigorri, also of the coalition, because the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) that he signed in 2019 had "the endorsement of all technicians", although he has admitted that the plan "consolidated" the "irregular" occupation of land by the landfill.
