OpenAI to Sell Its Top Models on Google Cloud in Latest Enterprise Push
Google Cloud customers will soon be able to buy OpenAI’s frontier models through Model Garden and Marketplace, expanding access across all three major U.S. cloud providers.
On Wednesday, OpenAI announced it will make its frontier models available through Google Cloud's "Model Garden and Marketplace," allowing customers to purchase models using existing spending commitments.
This agreement follows OpenAI's expansion onto Amazon Web Services earlier this year, after changes to its Microsoft partnership opened the door to broader cloud distribution.
Mike Leone, analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, said the deal signals confidence for Google, noting "the competitive advantage goes to whoever does the best job with a company's data, governance, and costs."
OpenAI models are now offered by all three leading cloud infrastructure providers, allowing corporate customers to access technology without establishing separate relationships with the ChatGPT-maker.
As the company targets an initial public offering, OpenAI is courting investors at a $1.4 trillion valuation while competing with Anthropic and Google's Gemini for enterprise market share.
OpenAI has entered into an agreement with Google Cloud to sell its advanced AI models and integrate them into Google and Gemini Agent development environments.
