ChatGPT Atlas Marks the End of Standalone AI Apps

- Fidji Simo, OpenAI CEO, described Atlas as a "side quest" that failed to take off. The browser joins a growing graveyard of OpenAI products, including the text-to-video app Sora, which lasted fewer than five months.
- Pivoting to a new platform called ChatGPT Work, the company aims to pack features into ChatGPT to encourage user retention. This approach continues even as the firm abandons its own AI-powered browser.
