OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic Get Green Light for Civilian AI Use in US; Soon Could Power Government Workdesks

UNITED STATES, AUG 5 – The approval allows federal agencies to quickly access AI models evaluated for security and bias, supporting the US AI action plan to maintain global leadership, GSA said.

  • Approving AI vendors, the GSA on Tuesday added OpenAI, Google and Anthropic to its Multiple Award Schedule, enabling federal agency adoption.
  • Following President Donald Trump’s executive orders, the 28-page AI action plan released last month mandates federal AI systems be built with freedom of speech and free from ideological bias.
  • Evaluating the AI offerings, GSA tested ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude for performance and security, facilitating widespread adoption through MAS.
  • Many agencies, including the Treasury Department and Office of Personnel Management, have already expressed interest, as Bloomberg reported the contracts allow rapid adoption.
  • Supporting broader AI ambitions, GSA’s action helps US President Trump’s plan to strengthen national leadership, offering AI companies a trusted federal marketplace.
