Ontario finance minister to table fall economic update
Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy is set to present the province’s fall economic statement and update its financial outlook.
Bethlenfalvy said tariffs affected Ontario less than expected, while a slower economy increased pressure on the deficit.
Ontario recorded a $13-billion deficit in 2025–26, and this year’s deficit is projected to be higher, aligning with the spring forecast of $13.8 billion.
Ontario will match a federal tax break for business capital investments, while Premier Doug Ford announced more than $8 billion in joint funding for industries affected by tariffs.
