- During a workover operation by Deep Industries Limited, PEC operator for ONGC's Rajahmundry Asset, repairs aimed to boost gas production at the Mori field.
- Around 10 fire tenders are at the scene as District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar inspected the site; families from Mori and Irusumanda were evacuated, and three villages cleared with no injuries reported.
- More clarity may emerge on capping the well over the next 24 hours, Mr. Mahesh Kumar said, as ONGC Crisis Management Teams coordinate with international well-control specialists for capping and casing-cutting.
- Happening in a remote coconut plantation about half a km from habitation, the well holds a natural gas reserve expected to be more than 30 million cubic feet, with ONGC senior management mobilising additional equipment and planning an investigation once secured.
