- John Amaya, truck driver from Laredo, was stopped after officers found he lacked a commercial driver's license, and the stop was part of Operation Lone Star reflecting Texas DPS's zero tolerance for human smuggling.
- A Border Patrol K-9 unit alerted, prompting officers to search the vehicle and find undocumented immigrants from Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico.
