One Dead, Four Injured After Car Crash on Highway 401 in Southwestern Ontario: Police
A 64-year-old woman died and four others sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 401, with police investigating the cause.
- On Sunday, the OPP Elgin detachment investigated a two-vehicle collision on the eastbound Highway 401 at Iona Road in Dutton that left one person dead and four others hospitalized, police said.
- Police say the Ontario Provincial Police has opened an investigation into the cause, closing eastbound lanes between Currie Road and Union Road for collision reconstruction before reopening them.
- About 2:30 a.m., OPP Elgin detachment, paramedics and Central Elgin firefighters responded to the crash, and police say three people were inside the car.
- Collision reconstruction officers reopened the eastbound lanes around midday and police asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact OPP hotlines at 1-888-310-1122 or 905-841-5777.
