'One Battle After Another' leads Golden Globe nominations

  • On Dec. 8, Marlon Wayans and Skye P. Marshall announced the Golden Globe nominations, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another leading with nine nods across 28 categories.
  • After structural changes at the Globes, Netflix struck a $72 billion deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, while Eldridge Industries and Dick Clark Productions took over and a voting body of more than 300 now selects winners.
  • Notably, nominees included Joachim Trier, director of Sentimental Value, with eight nominations, and Ryan Coogler, director of Sinners, with seven, while One Battle After Another earned cast and creative nods.
  • The nominations immediately bolstered One Battle After Another's awards-season momentum, and with nine nods it ties Barbie and Cabaret as the third-most nominated film ever at the Globes; the 83rd Golden Globes airs Jan. 11 on CBS and Paramount+.
  • The Globes also expanded their scope this year, adding a Best Podcast category with 25 eligible entries and inaugural nominees including Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard and Up First, while Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker will be honored in a Jan. 8 prime-time special.
