CHP’s Umut Akdoğan reacted to Minister Yusuf Tekin’s statement about “axe-wielding protesters” and submitted a written question to Interior Minister Yerlikaya. Akdoğan asked, “How many of the 1,418 people taken into custody had axes? Is there any evidence?” CHP Leader Özgür Özel also reacted strongly to Tekin, saying, “Young people who have not even picked up a stone are being slandered.”
