The German ski star Josef Ferstl barely survived the Kaprun disaster in 2000. His uncle and many friends died.
25 years ago, a fire broke out in a rack railway carriage on the Kitzsteinhorn ski resort in Kaprun, Austria. Four Slovenians were among the 155 victims. No one was held legally responsible for the tragedy, and the victims' relatives had to settle for compensation, and even that was largely swallowed up by legal fees.
On November 11, 2000, 155 people were killed. In Kaprun, as every year, there is an ecumenical service with relatives in front of the memorial in Kaprun in memory of the victims of the fire disaster.
On 11 November 2000, the most serious catastrophe of Austrian post-war history occurred in the Kaprun ski area. However, in the process, all those responsible were acquitted.
On November 11th, the accident in the Stollenbahn on the Kitzsteinhorn is the 25th anniversary. It is the biggest catastrophe of the Second Republic.
