Olivia, Minnesota, standoff suspect charged with assault, threats

OLIVIA — A 26-year-old Olivia man is alleged to have chased someone with a large kitchen knife Wednesday before a standoff with police that led to a shelter-in-place order. Alejandro Vela II made his first appearance Friday in Renville County District Court on felony charges of second-degree assault, threats of violence and fourth-degree assault of a peace officer.
