Authorities on Sunday, Aug. 3, were investigating an oil spill in Newport Harbor that was traced to a 40-foot boat. Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. David Murphy said there were reports of an odor coming from the harbor on Saturday night, and then on Sunday, a sheen could be seen on the ocean’s surface.
