Classification as assured right-wing extremist - Dobrindt: Commitment to the AfD has no general consequences for civil servants

The chairman of the German Civil Service Association warns against general consequences for civil servants with AfD party book. For disciplinary consequences it needs a "concrete misconduct" and examinations in individual cases. For AfD members it is "now much more improbable" to become civil servants.

The designated Federal Minister of the Interior Dobrindt has made it clear that the classification of the AfD by the constitutional protection as guaranteed right-wing extremist has no automatic consequences for officials who are close to the party or who are committed to it.

The designated Interior Minister Dobrindt sees no reason in an AfD membership alone for administrative consequences of the official. One has to examine individual case-specific.

The constitutional protection has classified the AfD as a secure right-wing extreme. However, state officials who are members of the party do not automatically have to reckon with administrative consequences.

The constitutional protection classification of the AfD as right-wing extremist raises the question whether officials threaten consequences with the corresponding party book. Drobrindt, the designated Minister of the Interior, excludes this without examining individual cases. His predecessor had merely informed him of the report.

Should state officials remain in office despite the AfD Party Book? The designated Federal Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) believes that this should not be ruled out. This kind of restraint continues to contribute to the normalization of the party.
