Decades Old Oil Well Leaks Into Parish Marsh
On Saturday, April 26, an air crew from the Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator's Office spotted an oil leak occurring by the marshes near Garden Island Bay, about 20 miles southeast of Venice, Louisiana in Plaquemines Parish. According to Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) Director of Homeland Security/ Emergency Preparedness Patrick Harvey, clean up operations were being overseen by the U.S. Coast Guard and remained ongoing.
