Residents of Kağıthane, Istanbul, have reacted angrily, stating that they are disturbed by the foul odor and mosquitoes caused by garbage dumped into Galata Creek. Hayder Edizer, a resident of the neighborhood, said, "People can't go out in the evenings or sit on their balconies. Children close the balcony doors and sit there. Flies always cause illness and sores. Children get sores."
