This month, nearly 2,600 women in Canada will hear the words, “You have breast cancer.” That is a terrifying diagnosis to receive. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the goal is to fuel life-saving research that will bring hope when it is needed the most. Like most charitable organizations, large or small, the focus is on fundraising for research and support that is essential to diagnosis, treatment and hopefully recovery.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that one in 12 women will develop breast cancer throughout their lives.
