Bayern Munich’s Lena Oberdorf Suffers Second ACL Rupture In 15 Months
Lena Oberdorf will miss most of the season after a second ACL tear in 15 months caused by a collision, FC Bayern Munich confirmed today.
- FC Bayern Munich said today medical examinations found a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in Lena Oberdorf's right knee and she will undergo surgery on Tuesday.
- After 23 minutes a collision with Adriana AchciDska forced Oberdorf off the field, and Momoko Tanikawa replaced her, later scoring as Bayern won 5-1.
- Having returned in pre-season Oberdorf made her official Bayern debut on August 30 and won a trophy, after signing for $484,000 and being UEFA Women's Euro 2022's best young player.
- Having been called up to Christian Wuck's squad, Lena Oberdorf will now miss the UEFA Nations League semi-finals, her third such absence in a year and a half.
- Amid a spate of ACL injuries this season, journalists note Oberdorf is among a handful of players including Giovanna Hoffmann, Sarah Zadrazil, Manuela Zinsberger, Marie Hobinger and Liana Joseph.
