GREATER MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 20 – A fatal collision on the M60 between junctions 19 and 22 caused long delays and forced many Oasis fans to leave their vehicles, Greater Manchester Police said.
- On Sunday, July 20, Greater Manchester Police said they responded to a welfare concern on the M60, where a 15-year-old boy died at the scene near Junction 20.
- Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service mobilised fire engines from Heywood and Broughton stations at just after 4:30pm, amid a welfare concern on the M60 anticlockwise between junctions 20 and 19.
- Following the crash, the M60 was closed in both directions between J19 and J22, and a large number of pedestrians have left their vehicles and are walking up the hard shoulder, National Highways said.
- Issuing a travel warning for Oasis fans, the Bee Network warned that the collision may impact journeys to Heaton Park.
- Reopening at about 4am on Monday, July 21, Greater Manchester Police confirmed next of kin were informed, and National Highways said the motorway is expected to remain closed throughout the evening.
