$1M Apple Product Heist Accusation Leaves NYC Trio Facing Federal Charges, Prosecutors Say
Federal prosecutors say the men used a rented truck and storage unit to move the stolen Apple devices, and they face up to 30 years in prison.
Federal prosecutors indicted Alan Christhofer Cedeno-Ferrer, Michael Mejia-Nunez, and Ennait Alexis Sirett-Padilla on Thursday for the January 3, 2026, armed hijacking of a delivery truck containing more than $1.2 million in Apple products outside the Americana Manhasset mall in Nassau County.
Masked assailants armed with handguns forced delivery workers into the cargo hold at gunpoint before transferring the technology into a rented Home Depot truck that was later abandoned in the Bronx on January 5.
Investigators tracked the stolen goods to a Paterson, New Jersey, self-storage facility using surveillance footage, fingerprints on a rental agreement, and WhatsApp messages, prosecutors said. Cedeno-Ferrer's fingerprints were recovered from rental documents.
The defendants, who allegedly entered the United States illegally, face federal Hobbs Act robbery and conspiracy charges; prosecutors stated a conviction could result in up to 30 years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella called the incident a "violent and brazen daytime robbery" that terrorized victims, while Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said the department pursued the suspects "until they were brought to justice.
