HAMMOND — A tornado touched down just west of Hammond earlier this afternoon, according to a National Weather Service storm survey. The storm was rated EF-0 with maximum estimated winds of 85 mph.The tornado touched down at 2:39 p.m. in a parking lot on West Thomas Street. It traveled south-southwest for about three-quarters of a mile before lifting along Saint Road. The tornado's path stretched 0.77 miles and reached a maximum width of 40 yards…
