Nvidia CEO says China on track "to win the AI race," FT reports

  • Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, told the Financial Times on Nov 5 that China is going to win the AI race and said on X late Nov 5 it is now 'nanoseconds behind' the U.S.

  • Washington has restricted exports, banning sales of Nvidia's Blackwell chips to China, and Nvidia has not applied for US export licences as Huang said China has effectively shut it out of its market.

  • Beijing has moved to require state-backed data centres in China under 30% complete to remove foreign AI chips, while subsidies cutting energy costs by 50% boost Chinese tech giants including ByteDance, Alibaba Group and Tencent.
