Today's strike of nurses of the Local Health Unit (ULS) Arrábida, in Setúbal, had a membership of more than 70% in hospitals and forced the closure of several primary health care units, revealed union source.
The numbers of admission to the strike demonstrate the dissatisfaction of the nurses, the union said, highlighting above all the discrimination felt in the payment of retroactive career progressions.
According to Zoraima Prado, leader of the Portuguese Nurses' Union (SEP), the nurses' paralysis carried out today had an expressive adhesion, with more than 80% adherence in the Hospital do Autumn and more than 70% in the Hospital de São Bernardo, in Setúbal.
