Official German police statistics recorded more than 214,000 acts of violence last year, the highest in the past 15 years. The total number of suspects arrested for criminal acts increased by 7.3%, to 2.246 million.

According to a newspaper report, the number of crimes registered across Germany rose to 5.94 million last year — over five percent more than in the same year 2022.
