The COA (Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers) has been unable to keep the number of asylum seekers in its registration center in Ter Apel below the agreed-upon limit of 2,000. This limit has been exceeded for sixteen consecutive days. This is the longest consecutive period since the end of last year. Between mid-October and early November 2024, the registration center was overcrowded for eighteen consecutive days.
