Nuclear: communication squalls after an incident at Flamanville power station

The new safety authority does not report on a radioactive leak that occurred on Saturday, March 22 on a nuclear reactor, nor has it activated its crisis centre.

The flow of water occurred at the primary circuit of the 1.300 megawatt reactor. The electrician asserts that this has "no impact on the safety of personnel or on the environment." Inspections are underway to determine the cause.

Reactor shutdowns are continuing at the Flamanville nuclear power plant (Manche). The restart of reactor No. 1, of 1,300 megawatts (MW), has been postponed for one month, to May 5. The cause was a leak of steam and then radioactive water on the cooling circuit of the shut down reactor (RRA), in the lower part of the primary circuit, on 22 March.
