Serbia Bank Owner Arrested Following Licence Revocation

- On Monday, Serbian authorities arrested Alta Bank owner Davor Macura for abuse of office, alleging he withdrew 45 billion dinars from the treasury three days after the National Bank of Serbia revoked its licence.

- Alta Bank expanded operations during President Aleksandar Vucic's tenure, handling state electricity payments and sponsoring his YouTube podcast, before the Serbian Progressive Party lost power after 14 years to the Student List.
