The Norwegian government announced on Monday that it is kicking two Russian fishing companies out of the country, The Barent Observer reports. The announcement follows an EU decision in May. “Recently, we have seen increasingly aggressive Russian hybrid campaigns against allied nations,” Foreign Minister Barth Eide said in a press release on Monday.
On Monday, July 7, the Norwegian government decided to add to the national sanctions list two Russian fishing companies that were previously sanctioned by the European Union. We are talking about the Russian companies “Norebo Holding” and “Murman SyFud”.
Merklant-2 and Ostankino are two Russian vessels, which according to the Ministry of Defense both have fishing licenses in Faroese waters for mackerel, herring and cod. Murman Seafood owns both vessels. The owner of Murman Seafood is, according to several sources, the parent company Norebo.
