England Get World Cup Boost as Norway Hit by Illness Before Quarter-Final
Several Norway players have flu-like symptoms, and manager Stale Solbakken said the squad is managing the illness before Saturday’s quarter-final.
Norway players have been affected by a sickness bug ahead of Saturday's FIFA World Cup quarter-final against England in Miami, though Manager Stale Solbakken confirmed the squad is recovering.
Previous episodes affected striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and defender Marcus Holmgren Pedersen, with Solbakken attributing health issues to frequent travel, air conditioning, and shared changing rooms across North America.
"We've had a few players who haven't been feeling well, but things are getting better," Solbakken said, noting that with over 50 people in the traveling group, some illness was statistically likely.
England faces its own selection challenges, as defender Jarell Quansah is suspended and Jordan Henderson is expected to miss the remainder of the tournament, while Reece James is being assessed.
Norway will enter its first-ever World Cup quarter-final aiming to continue a memorable campaign, with the winner of Saturday's match set to face Argentina, Egypt, Switzerland, or Colombia.
