Norway police investigate diplomat couple over suspected Epstein corruption
Norwegian economic crime unit Økokrim probes alleged benefits linked to Juul's diplomatic role and Epstein's influence in a 2018 property deal and 2011 trip plans.
On Feb 9, Norwegian police announced an investigation into two high-profile diplomats, with Økokrim launching an 'aggravated corruption' inquiry and searching an Oslo property.
Released documents last month show the US Department of Justice revived scrutiny of Rød-Larsen's ties to Epstein, first reported in 2019.
The files describe Epstein helping negotiate the 2018 Oslo apartment purchase and a planned 2011 visit to Epstein's private island with the couple's two children.
Mona Juul resigned on Sunday; lawyers say they are cooperating, denying wrongdoing, as Økokrim describes the investigation as comprehensive and long-term.
Although the files named many figures, reporting stressed that appearing in the files is not an indication of wrongdoing, drawing in other prominent Norwegians including Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Børge Brende.
