Norway, Netherlands, Germany announce joint support package for Ukraine of NOK 5 bln within PURL
Norway, the Netherlands and Germany announced on Wednesday during a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels that they will finance a new package of NOK5 billion ($500 million) under the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative for the purchase of US weapons for Ukraine.
The Netherlands is willing to use the compensation loan for Ukraine that the European Union is working on to purchase American weapons. "As far as I'm concerned, that's certainly not out of the question," says Foreign Minister David van Weel.
The decision was announced Wednesday in Brussels, during a meeting of NATO defence ministers from Member States. The common package is supported financially by Norway, the cities of Jos and Germany. The amount, of approximately $500 million (5 billion Norwegian Koreans), will be used for the purchase of the American armaments required by Ukraine.
