Nomination contenders 'appalled' as Steve Kent is tapped as Avalon Conservative candidate

A decision by the Conservative Party of Canada to appoint former MHA and municipal administrator Steve Kent as the party's candidate in the Newfoundland and Labrador riding of Avalon has two nomination contenders crying foul.

The 47-year-old communicator spent more than 20 years on air on several radio stations in Quebec City.

Former provincial cabinet minister Steve Kent has been nominated as the federal Conservative candidate in Avalon, but not without controversy. Two other prospective candidates posted on social media that they are disappointed and appalled by the party’s decision to appoint Kent.
