Nokia Joins Development of AI-Driven Military Tech
NestAI's €100 million funding, led by Nokia and Finland's Tesi, aims to build Europe's top physical AI lab for defence, supporting autonomous platforms and secure sensing.
- At Thursday, NestAI announced it raised about $115 million supported by Tesi and Nokia, confirming their partnership at Slush in Helsinki.
- To secure Europe’s technological sovereignty, NestAI was founded to deliver mission-critical physical AI and last month pledged support for the Finnish Defence Forces.
- Nokia will combine its secure connectivity and multimedia platforms with NestAI’s AI systems for unmanned vehicles and command-and-control applications and integrate Nvidia’s AI-RAN technology to support 5G-Advanced and 6G.
- The investment will fund development of secure sensing networks, autonomous platforms and control systems and support NestAI’s growth in Europe’s defence technology sector.
- Following Nvidia’s $1 billion investment in Nokia, Peter Sarlin—who sold Silo AI for €615 million last year and remains at AMD—has drawn former employees from Intel, Kongsberg, Palantir and Saab.
