DAVIDSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, JUL 18 – Secretary Noem offered a $1,000 stipend to undocumented immigrants who self-deport after ICE arrested 544 migrants in Nashville, focusing on those with criminal records, officials said.
- On July 17, Nashville International Airport, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem advised undocumented residents to self-deport with a $1,000 incentive, and Tennessee Rep. Justin Jones was removed after questioning her.
- Since May 2, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested 544 migrants, with the visit following ICE operations in Nashville that led to these arrests.
- Justin Jones asked about the fate of 196 people arrested, `many of them have never been charged with a crime,` he said.
