No Injuries Reported After COTALAND Roller Coaster Stops Twice During Opening Weekend

COTALAND said 19 riders were on the coaster during the first stop and no injuries were reported after a second stop on Sunday.

  • The COTALAND Circuit Breaker roller coaster experienced two unplanned stops during its opening weekend, with 19 riders aboard on Saturday and additional riders on Sunday. No injuries were reported in either incident.
  • COTALAND stated the coaster features numerous sensors and safety systems that continuously monitor operating conditions. If a required condition is not satisfied, the system may automatically stop the ride rather than allow it to continue.
  • Saturday's incident left 19 riders secured in their seats for approximately nine minutes while the coaster remained at a vertical tilt. On Sunday, riders waited about two minutes before the vehicle returned to horizontal position and they exited normally.
  • Austin is now home to the 30-acre COTALAND, located next to the COTA race track. The park represents a broader vision to evolve the venue into a full-scale experiential entertainment campus hosting 1.5 million visitors annually.
  • Earlier this year, a park visitor sued for more than $1 million after alleging he was stuck on Circuit Breaker for over an hour in December 2025. COTALAND stated it is reviewing the claims in the ongoing litigation.
