Riders Square Off Against Stampeders in Important Divisional Game for Both Teams
Johnson needs five catches in four games to join four other Riders in the club’s 100-reception season list.
On Friday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders host the Calgary Stampeders, offering receiver KeeSean Johnson a chance to reach 100 receptions. Johnson needs just five catches to join an exclusive club of four players in franchise history.
Injuries throughout the receiving corps forced the Riders to rely heavily on Johnson this season. With rookie Daniel Wiebe and Shemar Bridges sidelined, the team turned to the 31-year-old to anchor the passing attack.
"Reliability and availability, it's crucial," Riders coach Corey Mace said. Johnson has appeared in all 14 games and is pacing toward 122 catches, right behind Narcisse's team record.
Following two consecutive losses, the Riders aim to improve red-zone efficiency against Calgary. "We've got to emphasize getting in the end zone and scoring more touchdowns," Johnson said.
A victory would allow Saskatchewan to sweep the season series 2-0 against the Stampeders. Conversely, a loss by four or more points would give Calgary the tiebreaker if both teams finish with identical records.
