- Ahead of its August 1, 2025, launch, Indore District Magistrate Ashish Singh announced that two-wheeler riders without helmets will be denied petrol in the district.
- On Tuesday, July 29, Madhya Pradesh High Court expressed displeasure over traffic violations, prompting Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre to lead a meeting that led to the directive.
- Legal provisions like Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code 2023 state that violations by two-wheeler riders or petrol pumps may lead to imprisonment up to one year or a Rs 5,000 fine.
- In response, police forces in Indore district will assist enforcement, with officials said the rule aims to reduce violations and lower accident deaths and injuries.
- Highlighting judiciary concerns, the rule remains in force until September 29, 2025, following directives from Madhya Pradesh High Court and Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre’s meeting.
