THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO, JUL 17 – Ontario's Special Investigations Unit found no criminal negligence by a Thunder Bay officer who canceled a domestic disturbance call before Jenna Ostberg was found dead, despite concerns over response timing.

- At 2:05 a.m., the woman, citing a court order barring contact after a domestic assault earlier in the year, dialed 911 amid an argument around 2 a.m.
- Joseph Martino’s report leaves open the distinct possibility she took her own life shortly after 2:42 a.m., as the officer confirmed the cancellation at 3:08 a.m. and the boyfriend called 911 around 10:30 a.m., about 20 minutes later.
- Thunder Bay Police Service said it will start an administrative review of the case, while the lawyer representing Ostberg’s family said they are `deeply disappointed` and believe she would be alive had police responded to the first call.
- The results of the review will be reported to the Thunder Bay Police Service Board, and the SIU report `The purpose...is to review member conduct, the policing provided, and procedures as they related to the incident.
