Water park where 11-year-old girl drowned had no deep water warnings, inquest hears
- An 11-year-old girl named Kyra Hill drowned in August 2022 at Liquid Leisure near Windsor during a birthday party in a designated swimming area.
- The drowning occurred amid a lack of deep water warnings despite the swimming zone having sharp drops up to 4.5m and a depth of 2.68m where Kyra went under.
- Only one lifeguard oversaw about 42 people in the water, and a qualified 17-year-old lifeguard spotted concerning splashing but staff took 10 minutes to re-enter the water.
- Emergency services were called at 3:55pm, Kyra was found just after 5:10pm and taken to hospital, with a post-mortem confirming drowning as the cause of death.
- The inquest highlighted missing deep water signs and insufficient lifeguard coverage, and the coroner said the case would be very difficult for Kyra's family.
