MULTIPLE COUNTRIES INCLUDING JAPAN, UNITED STATES, UNITED KINGDOM, FRANCE, GERMANY, ITALY, SPAIN, CANADA, BRAZIL, AND MEXICO, JUL 17 – Nintendo will select up to 40,000 Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members to test an unnamed MMO-style online service on both Switch and Switch 2 consoles.
- On July 28, 2025, Nintendo announced the second Playtest Program, running until August 10, 2025.
- Last year's playtest first tested the service in October 2024, and Nintendo is bringing back its mysterious Playtest Program, covering the same service.
- Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members must register in ten countries with active memberships, applications run July 18–21, selection varies by region.
- Up to 40,000 participants will be selected worldwide, and, unlike the first test, Switch 2 users are included.
