BREAKING: Nigeria's Inflation Eases to 15.06% in February

Annual food inflation fell 18.31 points to 19.08% year-on-year despite monthly food prices rising 4.69%, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

  • On Monday, the National Bureau of Statistics disclosed Nigeria's inflation rate eased to 15.06 per cent in February 2026 from 15.10 per cent in January 2026.
  • Month-on-Month data show food inflation rose to 4.69 per cent in February 2026, driven by higher prices for beans, cassava, yam flour, crayfish and other staples, the NBS said.
  • On a month-on-month basis, the headline inflation rate in February 2026 was 2.01%, which was 4.89% higher than January 2026 , despite a 0.04 percentage point year-on-year decline.
  • Forecasts diverged from the official release, as the Financial Derivatives Company had forecasted 14.07 per cent inflation while food inflation rose to 12.12 per cent, increasing household food costs.
  • Over the past year, average annual food inflation eased to 19.08 per cent, down 18.31 percentage points from February 2025, the NBS said.
